Working in a small-group setting, you will be guided step by step through the process, with plenty of individual support and encouragement. By the end of the session, you’ll leave not only with a beautifully finished hat, but also with new skills and confidence in millinery techniques.

How to block and shape a sinamay straw crown and brim using a traditional Boater hat block (with a choice of sinamay straw colours)
How to stiffen the straw to achieve a strong, structured hat
How to achieve a clean, professional finish
How to correctly remove the moulded shapes and attach the crown and brim together
How to sew in a sweatband (petersham ribbon) for comfort and structure
How to wire and finish the edge
How to secure the hat with elastic for a comfortable and reliable fit
How to decorate your hat with a classic side-bow hatband
